The house of Chanel was founded by Gabrielle Bonheur "Coco" Chanel in 1910. The iconic Chanel logo is one of the most recognizable status symbols in the fashion world with its overlapping double 'C'. The brand began as a small shop which originally sold ladies hats but the boutique quickly gained popularity and within a year moved to the fashionable Rue Cambon district in France.
